This isn't even the HALF of the mess Jason made with the MOON SAND. Let's see - it was ground into the carpet and I even found some on the LEDGE above him!! Mr. Destructo Strikes Again!!
Jake, his friend Laney and Jason...Jake is supposed to be Darth Vader, but he kept lifting up the 'helmet.' I love the ski mask, too...crazy kid (Laney was Coraline - her blue wig kept bothering her...).
This little skeleton told "jokes" - "Who me? I'm just hanging around! haaaaaa" "Hey, I'm HUNGRY!! I need some meat on my bones! Haaaaaa..." Jason thought that was the funniest thing! He LOVES skeletons - weirdo.
Today I talked to a 'friend of a friend' who happens to work with EI as a developmental therapist. She had heard, from our mutual friend Denise, about my HORRIBLE experience with a new OT, and wanted to know more about it. We talked for a while, and then she told me that EI providers in IL are NOT being paid! Haven't been paid in MONTHS. SHE hasn't been paid since June. What a shame...Here are these WONDERFUL folks, driving around God's green earth, going to homes to evaluate children and to provide services for children with certain needs - and they're not being paid for the hard work they do. No, not hard work - MEANINGFUL work. She said that she knows some folks who have lost their homes, who have had to go to soup kitchens - all because their pay has been cut off and their income has been decreased drastically. JUST SAD. She said her and a bunch of friends in the field have written Oprah, the local news channels and have a drafted letter to the Prez himself. I hope something happens and they get paid what they deserve!!

Jason fell asleep on the couch about 730 and it's now almost 9. Guess it's too late to wake him up - only to put him in bed. Tonite will be a long night!!

Well, this DT person gave me some GREAT advice to help out Jason and his sensory deal - threading fruit loops on a pipe cleaner, a tray full of shaving cream, window markers on our glass door/windows/mirrors, finger paints (great - give Mr Destructo finger paints?!?! I'll have to put up tarps EVERYWHERE!!)...she said to have him 'run around,' bounce him on the exercise ball, have him jump on the couch cushions - and THEN do the 'structured' activities (play-doh, paint, etc) with him. She said that'll help him 'focus.' Huh. Amazing how the brain works...

I think Kev just pulled up - I better go out to the garage and 'help' put all the stuff away so he can get in the garage...stuff being tricycles, scooters, balls...Oops - he just walked in. Ha!! Well, it won't kill him to pick up stuff around here!! :)

  1. HI, Pam! Did you see the news segment on Channel 2 news at 10:00pm last week Wednesday? It talks about EI and their lack of "reimbursement". I blogged about it, just too lazy to put the link on here. I think it was last week Friday or Saturday's post.

Take care and call me! We gotta get these boys together!
